Banca Boat on Apo Island

This is a classic Banca boat as used on Apo Island and on every other coast or island in the Philippines, this banca seems to be up for repair and the outriggers and the rotorblade are taken off. The banca boats are used as passenger boats and supply / fishing, everything you would use a boat for here inthe Philippines basically.

The Banca Boats are from 4-5 feet long to 60 feet or even more seating up to 100 or more passengers. The banca boat is designed so it can pull up on the beach or be used from a regular pier. The pier solution is often times a little scary because sometimes they just got this little toothpick-like board to cross over to land on. So For example when going to Puerto Galera I usually opt for the real boats in stead as they have better access boards.

Apo Island Banca

This banca was pulled up on the beach close to the landing area on Apo Island close to Pauls diving Center. So I guess they do boat construction work right there on the beach, I have never seen them do that though.
