The Rocks on top of the Rock Formations on Apo Island

The view here is just spectacular, pictures will not do this justice ever, you have to go to Apo Island to see for yourself.

Notice the two big rocks on top of this formation? They look like they are just about to fall down, so back in the 1990s the PhilippineNavy came out to Apo Island with a warship and fired 30 and 50 caliber guns from the warship at the 2 rocks to get them to fall down. They could not shoot the 2 rocks down, so they in the end decided to leave them. I am happy they are still up there, it gives the formation a little mystique - how can these two rocks stay up there :-)

The guy I talked to on Apo island about this incident said that if you dare to climb to the top you can still the the bullet marks, I took his words for it, as I am certainly not going to climb the rock formations at Apo Island - well or anywhere else for that sake, but here on Apo Island it would be even worse if something happens, think about how long to the nearest hospital in Dumaguete City.

Much better to spend your time in Apo Island relaxing in a beach chair having a cold drink looking UP at the rock formations, or slowly swimming around in the clear azure-blue water looking DOWN at the millions of fish and corals who lives around Apo Island
