I have never ever seen any of that sort of algae at that time of year
in other spots apart from dumaguete. I was in puerto galera the week before and no algae there. Its seasonla there as April is end of high season to occurs at a time when the most amount of waste has got into the groundwater. Remember it has already been proved that Borocays beach at one time had a high degree of Ecoli from septic tanks that leached into it.
I posted numerous articles to confirm this. Each one used the algal bloom as further evidence. of course I have seen some algae but NEVER it the quantities seen at White beach. If it was seasonal then would it not have been at other beaches around Borocay as well? It wasn't and As white beach is the most developed it is all too coincidental. AsiaBill on the TT who owns a resort there tried to poo poo itm on TT and of course he would but zI can';t see why you would being a marine biologist. Thats why I completely lost patience with TT. Posat anything that people don't like and they jump on you.
I also noticed at Borocay that the sea floor had a kind of matting. I have noticed this at other heavily developed places like Phuket so i'm sure this is a pollution issue as well. Hopefully with the new wate water treatmennt plant
Borocay will improve but it can't be denied that its way too overdeveloped and it would be a miracle if there weren't any pollution issues.
earl, I would be very interested in any talks you hold.
Snorkelling, diving and swimming in clear clean coral seas are my main passion in life.
