Judging

Judging of essays will be by a panel of judges who will score all entries based on the following criteria:

Comprehension (1-20 points)
How well does the essay reflect a thorough comprehension of the monthly topic?

Organization (1-20 points)
Does the essay follow a logical and easily understood progression? Does corroborating evidence support the essay's main points?

Conclusions (1-20 points)
Do the conclusions follow logically from the argument? How compelling are the conclusions?

Creativity (1-20 points)
Use of diverse resources such as interviews. Creative angle on the topic. Use of pictures and graphics.

Writing (1-20 points)
Correct grammar, spelling, punctuation. Concise language.

In the unlikely event of a tie based on score the essays that tied will be voted on by the same panel of judges each selecting the essay they deem should be the winner. There will always be an odd number of judges so a tie then will not be possible.
