For those who have been dreaming of a well-deserved vacation, Carmen is one of the best places to indulge in.

Carmen is a small town located in the central part of the world-famous Bohol province in the Philippines. It is a third-class municipality with less than 50,000 residents. They call themselves the Carmenanons and they are able to understand the English language.

Agriculture or farming is one major source of income. You can find coconut trees, bananas, cassavas and other tropical plants. Rice fields are also a common sight. On top of it, tourism contributes to the municipality’s progress.

There are more than 1,200 cone-shaped hills which turn to brown during the summer heat. The scene looks like giant chocolate Kisses confined in one geographical spot. It got its name from this impression. To see the Chocolate Hills at its best, it is advised that you go there during the summer period, from March to May.

Aside from the Chocolate Hills, Carmen boasts of hidden natural attractions, too. If you love adventures, you can go out with your friends and explore a few caves out there. You will find that each cave is unique and will leave you thrilling for more cave quests.

Or, if you have a fancy for water activities, you can check some waterfalls and take a cool and refreshing dive. You may also want to pitch your tent and go for a picnic in any springs in Carmen. There is so much of the place to explore and to behold.

One event that visitors usually delight in is the town fiesta held every 17th of January. The whole Carmen is in festive mood. There are different programs such as street parades, dances, and singing competition. Each family prepares special meals for their guests. Guests are welcome to stay overnight.
