I was working in the music business as a sound-tech for about 13 years and did quite some live-shows and events for 40 people to 70.000, what gave me the opportunity to "play" around with a lot of technical equipment and different set-ups.
It is a totally different field than HIFI but music is music and I can tell if the sound is good or not.
Having said that, the speaker of my cell sounds better than each Karaoke machine in town...
