hi you can pay anything from 15000 to 80000PHP on a motorbike (scooter) there are loads of options, MCX on the southern highway about 2.5kms out of town on the left, do a HP thing, about 6k down then 2.5k per month. i bought a new yamaha, that got stolen when my gf pi$$ed off after tricking me into putting it all in her name, so that's food for thought!! get it in your name!! it's no hassel! on the way to the airport on the left they sell used bikes, ranging from OK all the way down to bollox! you can barter to your hearts content there. just past the market there a big sign saying cheap motorbikes, i've never been in there, but the sign looks nice lol. a new bike will cost you approx 60k, they do named ones ie suzuki/yamaha and chinese crap also, that i'm sure will get you from A-> B. insurance is ermmmm sod all and protects u equally as badly, but necessary. hope that helps, you can also hire one for around 200php a day, so take your time and look for a deal.

Coyotes, thanks, that's good to know! So there is no problem for a foreigner to have a bike in his own name? Here in India it's almost impossible, while in Indonesia it's no big deal. I'm not so sure about Yamaha, as I only want to have a small scooter, but the Yamaha (Mio's) are a bit too small for me. So yeah, will probably check out the Honda's, Suzuki's or what else is around. So no Kymco (Made in Taiwan)? ;-)

You can get a new Rusi (Chinese) for 40K. I know some people who have one and they seem fine though I will probably try to swing a Honda or something similar. Most are as Coyotes mentioned but you can get a 150. I hear that anything bigger sucks down the gas, but that's from a tight wad expat. ![]()

I'm not the millionaire either, so far those 100-125cc bikes suit me just fine. You get everywhere pretty fast, they don't suck your spare change away too quickly, everyone can fix one and you can't go much faster due to road conditions and traffic anyway. So yeah, will have a look out for a decent ride. Is there anything like a 2nd hand market in Dumaguete? A 2-3 year old would probably be enough for me. Thanks!
