| I have visited Eidelweiss several times since its opening. The decor is lavish, the bar well stocked, many drinking glasses. The draft beer is very cold and served in a real beer glass. The first visit I ordered salmon, nothing special, seems it was fried in oil. The operations manager seems to be a chain smoker, its best to get a table far from him if you are a non smoker. I noticed numerous meals were served late, some up to two hours. Plates, knives, forks and spoons not placed on the tables. A group sat at the bar, ordered pitcher of Daiquiris while waiting for a table. Later the party moved to a table, the operation manager assisted by carrying two full glasses of the daiquiris, he tripped on bar stool, spilling 20 percent of the contents of one glasses. He wiped the glass dry, proceeded to the table without refilling the glass. On another visit I witnessed a waitress being terminated openly in front of customers. For me Casablancas is much better. |

| I think it needs some time like most new restaurants. The Dane and I were at Casablanca a few weeks after they opened and we left after the starter (report here on DI). When we returned in March it was totally different and we were highly satisfied. I was at Edelweiss last Sunday, got my food quite fast, tastewise is some improvement needed, but I also talked to Alex the manager about (like I did before with Klaus/Guenther at Casablanca). Most business-owner here in Duma are open for Critics. There is no improvement if we customers don't tell them what happened. Edelweiss has IMHO big potential when they sort out the typical starting problems. Rhoody

| I agree with you completely. First time we went to Casablanca, it was terrible. Now, it's perfect. The first weekend is usually a trial, but you can make many bad impressions if you fail the trial. I'm sure it will get better, but the chain-smoking manager has to go. |

| ...but don't think the fat man, chain-smoking and beer-drinking in the evening is the manager... there is a good chance that you talk about me .... I sit there quite many times for a cold one as it is on my way home.... hehe Rhoody

| I am from Cebu and rely partially on the Info's of the Internet when traveling. After trying all of the recommended places here in Dumaguete (and more) I must say it is a wonderful information source. I was at Edelweiss and I liked it. I think the decor is great, the waitresses sexy and very friendly. I had this Austrian Schwienbarten (sorry if misspelled). First I wanted to complain about to much fat, but even that tasted good. Different than the normal fat on a lechon. The bread-dumpling is great too. could be more sauce for it though. I think most people are happy to have another good place to go in Dumaguete. This City is changing rapidly to the good. I can eat here now with the same quality or even better than in Cebu City. Egon I assume you are the manager or owner. You can be proud what you achieved there and Dumaguete can be proud to have some guys there who do this investment. I hope all things are working out for all of you. You put Dumaguete on a higher level. |

| EGON, No need for a whole post is caps (shouting), the guy has been a couple of times to your establishment so is a customer. What is wrong with Lavish? And if you go shouting like that no wonder 99% stick to compliments, negative feedback is feedback as well, just as negative publicity is publicity as well. Anyhow I know you guys have been working hard on this project and each new business has its start-up problems, best of luck and hopefully it becomes a successful enterprise. |

sorry about the capital letters but my key board on my computer gave me some trouble ,that was the only reason to write in capital ,and there was no intention and any meaning on ,,shouting ,,ok. i am since 2 months now in trinidad and tobago doing a project as a engineer on a chemical plant here[with my own company i have here in trinidad],so all i can see and say is from a very remote location now ok. i know my brother alex is doing the best he can for edelweis ,but it is so happen that not allways you can satisfy all cosumers to their expectation. some like to smoke, some do not like to smoke, some like to see sports, others like to see music clips etc........ that is the nature of a business such as we have with edelweis. but we serve good austrian and other dishes ,and cold beer!!!! i agree there is nothing wrong with lavish. all what we say is that edelweis is something of exellence in style and very different to other places,so it is a good improvement for dumaguete city , so many costumer have more choices to dine and hang out,but also our dumagutetesprings beach resort in bacong and our apartments in bagacay are set on high standards to put dumaguete city on a higher note!! that is and was the reason as to why edelweis was established. For all in dumaguete to benefit from this new place and to have a good time there in edelweis and dumaguetesprings ok. all the best to all, from egon /presently in trinidad and tobago |
