| Hey Teach...just come in on the tread.... Already the advice was see a MD,hope you have done so. A few minor checks will tell if there is a more serious problem don't leave it. Moderate exercise but not excessive till you know more and pack the smokes up as of now. My friend has just been told he has a problem, sounds similar. Maybe time to consider that retirement take things easy.....regards JB |

| Early retirement, is now on my list. Think I can manage it in two years. Getting back in shape is now top. But running a business in the Philippines is not much of a retirement, but much less stressful than teaching for sure.

| Teacher, My advice is to find a heart doctor pronto. You can take the other route and think -- It's can never happen to me -- and end up six feet under the ground. There is an old saying, An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This past month I noticed tightness in the chest when I walked rapidly or up a flight of steps. To make a long story short, I had the treadmill stress test performed on me, the doctor did not like what he saw, so they performed a heart cath to get a really good look and guess what, I now have three (3) new heart stents. And I feel great I might add. If you go the full route and do nothing -- one of two things will eventually happen. You will have a full blown heart attack and possible die, or, if you survive, that part of your heart muscle will be permanently damaged - it never recovers. Good luck --Rich-- |

| ...seems to me you guys may be correct about possible Angina. And Teacher, if you are also noticing heart palpatations....well - YES! Absolutely get to a true medical doctor or hospital/clinic as fast as you are able... I am sorry I have no good advice for you right "Now"....but God Speed and Good Luck. |

| Hi Teach! Don't fool with this one. Get checked out. My circumstance was much like described by Rich321 above. I was almost asymptomatic. After the angiogram, a very long faced young specialist at the Ottawa Heart Institute came to me and advised that there was nothing more that could be done. What he meant to say was that I was too far gone for a stent to help. In short order, I had my very own "cabbage", a quadruple Coronary artery bypass graft (hence CABG). Amazingly, this is now very routine surgery. I was even booted out of the Heart Institute early, on the fourth post-op day. That was four years ago. I feel great. I only have two questions: Why did I have to furnish my own repair parts? Could they have not found something at Canadian Tire; and more importantly, Am I glued or sewn? Hang in there and GO GET CHECKED OUT!
