Making transfers to a Phillipino bank has a standard transfer fee (ABN-Amro) so is excellent for large amounts and has the same exchange rate if you transfer it straight into peso, just have to make sure the local bank will not charge any % but depending they seem to charge at most 5 dollars (either in peso or dollar account) per transfer (so the larger from Dutch bank to peso account the better really).
As a result from some exciting adventures (bankruptcy) in my past life are the alarmbells ringing on my credentials by most of the Dutch banks apart from the Postbank which is now ING.
Regarding this matter I am not be able to chance from a standard account package to a so called generous package which is not charging me for ATM withdrawals.
For that reason I am charged € 1.82 for each ATM transaction and I'm afraid I have to live with that.
