Holland is a nice place and noise abatement is in force though really not needed as neighbors would never put the music up and have the base at full blare no cockrels. The place is very clean and tidy the roads are well kept and the people have a country they can be truthfully be proud of. I lived in the Haigh for a year and I really enjoyed the stay the people where geniunly friendly and helpful. Nice place nice people and its somewhere I am very fond of I will be going back in the near future.

Yes I have fond memories of Holland its a place I will probaly finally retire to when all my pensions are all in place. Nice bars and good food, thanks for the memory.

One year lived in Holland (it's called the Netherlands) ? I did live there 62 years !
I agree in general that my countrymen are not the worse in the world.
Yes in general we don't have to ignore to be proud (a bit at least ).
But about the noise problem you've not been around in the Netherlands, I see.
I know persons who went back from the Philippines to the Netherlands (yes....because ot the noise here) but were confronted soon with other noise problems at home. But I will not say that the Philippines has no noise problem.
Sorry....I have to say " that I do not see noise problems in the Philippines."
One of those things I also should like to see reduced.
That's in their culture and will only be possible to reduce step by step (or maybe it never will. God knows !)

I have lived in many countries and places for a short time, when it comes to being a welcome visitor the Netherlands, Canada and Gibraltar take top places in friendlyness and helpfulness. The Philippines takes last unfortunaly. I still love it here even though it has many, many problems, I have a beautiful apartment, partner and the responsibilities. This hell and paradise is home even though I know pastures elsewhere are much greener.

When we came home this summer, it was shockingly quiet in comparisment, of course after a couple of months you start to get annoyed again and complain again . I do notice that when we are in the Phillipines we do look for quiet spots and tbh manage to find them pretty easy as well.

I really dislike the large cities in the Philipines though, they are mad noisy and smelly. I don't see it all as a problem for me really, I am free to go where I want it is rather a problem for who lives there and has little choice where he lives.

I have even come to terms with the karaoke virus that has hit the place (ha on my first visit I visited a family village where there was hardly a radio let alone televisions and karaoke).

Besides when I am in the Phillipines I am always upbeat and not bothered, my partner tends to be annoyed a lot more since she left 25 years ago, she tends to compare a lot more to 'western standards'.

My partner actual complains more than I do, she has become westernised and realised she really don't like the noise especial from the open house church behind my place. Where they sing out of tune at the top of the voices and of course the base is completly out of balance.

She went and complained taking me in tow, but the noise simply does not effect me, it helps to be a bit deaf. (oh thats my secret)
