Default Hello

Hello people from Dumaguete. I am a 22 year old student from Korea. These days, I am in Korea, I did visit your place to tour and scuba dive with some friends and family. I am only a beginner at that, but it was fun to learn.
Many Koreans now enjoy coming to the Philippines, and it is a nice place to vacation.

I notice here on this forum that there seems to be some negativity towards philippinos and some foreign tourists. Notably Koreans. I do not understand because many of the posters are foreigners also. Why do visitors to the Philippines criticize other tourists who also come here? Are not we all visitors with equal status here?

Sorry if my first post is topical, I do enjoy the Philippines and the nice people here. I hope to gain much good info as I visit from time to time. Korean culture is spreading all over Asia, I hope we all can learn from each other. When will there be a good Korean restaurant in Dumagurte, that is one thing I missed when I was there.

Default Don't take it to heart.

I was a English teacher for many Korean students. People from western style countries, tind to speak there minds and don't really mean harm, We take people on a one by one from what ever country they are from. You are good the next may not be. They may not very much different from you. Koreans have thereway of thinking and so do westerners, just a question of understanding eachother not always easy. remember the American Beef issue not long ago in Korea? But one of the largest customers that buy korean products is America how do you think Americans felt. I thought it would be easy just mark the beef USA. no one would buy then it would have just stop coming. your PM had a impossible problem to deal with. korea has to sell to America. not trying to start a issue. but understanding is always an issue. so unless it affects you don't worry about it to much. most of the people I know likw koreans very much as I do.

Hey KGirl, welcome to the site. I lived in Korea for one year so I know what
you mean about missing the food. There are 3 Korean restraurants here now,
although 2 are only cafes. The one by the airport is quite good. I'm American
but we love Thai food there and I learned to love Korean while living in Changwon. Maybe we can email sometime.

Funny maybe the nazis meant no harm when critizizing jewish people, even the US was turning away jewish imigrants from europe fleeing nazi terrorism, but they meant no harm I suppose. Many Americans seem to live in a vacum, and have no idea that there is an Asia which is poised to overtake the worlds economic lead. I am a political science and economics major. It is all about control of resources and materials sir, and the us has a problem there. Now in recession, with a strapped economy, Americans believe what their government tells them.

Why raise the issue of beef. If America made quality food products with out any risk of spreading disease there would be no issue. Korea can import all the beef it wants from Australia and it is higher quality. Where will you buy your Hyundais, and Samsung electronics? not a good comparison.

Default Was is really about Bad beef?

I am curious as to exactly how many people in Korea (or in Asia for that matter) have gotten sick or died from tinted American beef to justify all the riots, destruction and protests? IMO, all the raucous the world has witnessed were clearly about anti American sentiment from the Koreans than anything else....that's fine, and the Koreans are entitled & free to express their opinions about anyone anywhere, but let's not criticize those members on this board who do the same.

And BTW, I personally prefer Hondas ,Toyotas, and Sony over Hyundais, Kias, and Samsung (in design, value, and quality). Also, in what aspect of quality is it that the Australian beef better than American beef? I myself prefer the taste of American corn fed beef over Australian beef....it's way too gamy for me.

Cheers

This are trade war issues I guess where each goverment sell it of to their population as very legit.

What I do seem to remember there is a difference in quality control and hygine between the US and the EEC, the EEC tends to have more controll in the whole production chaine while in the US it is more on the last stage of production.

Overall all the developed countries screw the under developed ones to a certain extend.

Kgirl, you are a PS and Eco major in school? I presume that you meant an economic recession? The US is not in an economic recession. Did you miss that day in school? How many quarters does it have to be before it is financially considered to be an economic recession?

Have you ever wondered why the Olympics was decided to be put in S. Korea? Have you ever wondered why so much money and investment is going into S. Korea. Who are your neighbors? N. Korea and China? What kind of government do they have?
