Default Hello to all

Hello,

Although we have been reading this and other forums my wife and I are are just now signing in. We just returned from a 2 week visit to Dumaguete and the surrounding towns. We were very impressed with the area, and have decided this to be the city we will moved to next summer. We are not new to the Philippines having lived there for 5 years while in the US military and making yearly trips throughout for the past 7 years.

Would like some advice and or comments from those living in Dumaguete i.e. Do and Donts, wish I did this or did not do that when I moved there. Contacts of reputable real estate agents / lawyers / car dealers etc... Area's not to move into, Rental v.s Owning (the wife is a duel US /RP citizen).

What would you say is a fair price per sq meter for land in Valencia / or within 25 KM from Dumaguete. Any areas looking good for future development.

Whats up with the Robinson mall delay?

Thank you in advance and looking forward to chatting with you all.

tbevan

Two weeks isn't enough time to make a permanent decision. If you come to Dgte be sure and just rent for the first year or so.

Default Hello from Florida

Hello Teacher,

So what brought you to the Philippines. How long have you lived there. The wife and I are making the move this August / Sept.

Default Hey

Lots of things, lost of my career, nasty divorce in one year my life felt like it was flushed down the drain. Been to a few places before the Philippines. But this is my home now I like it. Not always easy place to live but I feel it is worth it. I am married to a Filipina. Built a house life goes on. right now I working in Taiwan it is fun. I will be back to my house at the last week of July. working on opening a bakery.. I lived there for five years been out for a year and a half right. need some business capital so I am working for a while. but soon to be back...

Hi Van. That question has been asked several times already in this forum and answered but you will have to do some searching and reading because I am not able to post links to some of the better ones but 90% of what you are looking for has already been covered somewhere in here.

Did you ever get off post much when you where stationed here? Your asawa is a dual, so she acquired american citizenship and then reacquired PI citizenship? Look carefully because I do not believe her reacquired citizenship comes with the same exact rights as someone who has never renounced her citizenship. I am guessing your children are grown so I do not see where you will have too many worries if you do make the move unless you have the need to visit them often.
