Default Hello Good People Dumaguete!!

Hi, My name is Brian and I am a new member here. I have been to Dumaguete last year in April and found it to be a wonderful place. Currently my fiance' is still there waiting for her visa (2nd visa) don't ask long story! But none the less it will arrive soon. She has already been to the states and I can't wait for her return. I would like to send her a laptop computer so that she and I can chat more conveniently, but I am worried that a laptop purchased here will not conform to the possibly different electrical standards set up there in Dumaguete. Is it safe to send a computer manufactured for U.S. usage to Dumaguete and plug it into a wall outlet with out something catastrophic happening to the computer or to the wiring of her home. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian

Most laptop computer's power adapter accepts both 110 and 220v, so I wouldn't worry about it. However, I'd be more concern about getting it through the Philippine customs....

Last year I had a 3 1/2 year old laptop shipped to China & the custom wanted to tax the full value of the laptop (priced when it was new)....I think it was like $900usd or something ridiculous. I end up having it shipped back to the sender.

Hi Brian,

If it is only about chatting you can get used notebooks here in several computershops Dumaguete for below 20.000 Peso. I use one of those and it is enough for my needs with all software I wanted.
