My wife is from Bais City, her cousin sent us this site information so that we may gather information on moving to Dumaguette City, purchase a home and raise our family there. We are seeking information on how to purchase real estate, fees, areas good to live in, builders of homes, and homes that are on the market. We seek to purchase or buy a four bedroom home in Dumaguette City. Your help is appreciated.

my advice is take your time, but that's repeated throughout the site, come visit, rent initially, get a good attorney!!! don't pay over the top, barter!!! make sure it's a clean title!! (very important) know that it can't be in your name!!! have a look here Real Estate Laws - Philippines

come, stay, rent, take your time! renting a place is from 5000php to well ..... whatever really, realistically 20,000php, but depends what ur prepared to put up with till u decide.

Really Herb if you want set prices you need to be looking at homes in the Manila and Cebu markets. In Dumaguete it is a little more complicated then that and it depends on whom you are buying your property and home from. If you have good resources you may want to design and build your own home, if not you are better off buying something prebuilt, and if you are really on a budget you just may want to rent. Prices really vary by neighborhood, amenities and distance from the city. Safety is relative. Do you feel safe living in the countryside, or do you enjoy hearing the sounds of daily traffic and citygoers passing by your front door.

If you keep digging at some of the earlier posts in the Expat and Classifieds sections of this forum you will get some good leads and links to more information. Good luck.
