| Hello Everybody. I am a new member on this site and would appreciate your help and advice. Sometime soon (hopefully November) My family (wife and three children) will be moving to the Philippines hopefully for good. My Brother -in - Law lives in Makati with his Filpino girlfriend and we shipped my Mother - Law over to Tagaytay last year so that she could continue to drink herself into oblivion! We have spent some time in Makati and enjoy it but don't wish to live in a big city although we will initially rent here and travel around the Islands trying to find the right place. We have looked at Taygaytay but really I don't want to be inland (or near my Mother -in - Law) although it is a nice place. Calatagan might be interesting in a few years but at the moment its a nice beach and a swimming pool on what should be a major building site surrounded by nothing. We looked at Cebu City and Mactan Island earlier this year - Not that keen on Cebu (although to be fair I did not travel much outside of the main part of the city, Mactan was not very nice as all the decent beaches seemed to have been grabbed by the hotels. I am trying to find a quietish place that will give us all access to the type of things we need to not feel totally removed from civalization and I need decent internet access as I hope to keep my business ticking over. That said we do accept we wont be living in a warmer version of England. We like the Philippino people, but we do need to be somewhere we feel safe (We live in quiet ol' Devon fer crissakes!) - that being said I feel perfectly safe in Manila. We will have one child of school age (12) so he will need a decent International School. We would like to be near the coast in a decent sized town. Somewhere with good scuba diving would be excellent. Also What's the real situation with the Robinsons Mall? Is it ever going to get done. Is there a decent cinema on the Island? What about a casino (for when I need a to top up my second hand smoke habit). We opened a bank account last time we were over with the PNB so moving money around should be easy. Any help and advice would be appreciated - even ideas for alternative places to consider within the Philippines. Cheers |

| It is really pretty well covered, has some advantages of living away of Metro Manila while it seems a lot better than most Provincial cities. Think Daffs and some others are afraid the place will become too popular. |
