the night had deepened
as we walk along
these asphalted roads
slowly drenched with drizzle
the walk had seemed slow
the road too long
your smile warmed me
amidst the coolness of the night
the soft pressure of your grasp
warm and comforting
i wonder...
how so soon i have reached
the end of this road
shivering and drenched
when wrapped in in my overcoat
hands kept in my pockets
i walk alone..

"Beatitudes for Parents"
Blessed are those who make peace with spilled milk and mud, for such is the kingdom of childhood.
Blessed is the parent who engages not in the comparison of his child with others, for precious unto each is the rhythm of his own growth.
Blessed are those who have learned to laugh, for it's the music of a child's world.
Blessed and mature are those who without anger can say No, for comforting to a child is the security of a firm decisions.
Blessed is the gift of consistency, for it brings heart's ease in childhood
Blessed are they who accept the awkwardness of growth, for they are aware of the choice between marred furnishings and damaged personalities.
Blessed are the teachers, for knowledge brings understanding and understanding brings love.
Blessed are the men and women, who in the midst of the unpromising mundane, give love, for they bestow the greatest of all gifts to each other and to their children, and, in an ever widening circle, to their fellowmen.

IF YOU’RE EVER GOING TO LOVE ME

If you’re ever going to love me, love me now, while I can know
All the sweet and tender feelings which from real affection flow.
Love me now, while I am living; do not wait till I am gone
And then chisel it in marble—warm love words on ice-cold stone.

If you’ve dear, sweet thoughts about me, why not whisper them to me?
Don’t you know ’twould make me happy and as glad as glad can be?
If you wait till I am sleeping, ne’er to waken here again,
There’ll be walls of earth between us and I couldn’t hear you then.

If you knew someone was thirsting for a drop of water sweet,
Would you be so slow to bring it? Would you step with laggard feet?
There are tender hearts all ’round us who are thirsting for our love;
Why withhold from them what nature makes them crave all else above?

I won’t need your kind words when the grass grows o’er my face.
I won’t crave your love or kisses in my last low resting place.
So then, if you love me any, if it’s but a little bit,
Let me know it now while we are living so I can own and treasure it.

Author unknown.

Smile By Robert Frost

1. The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

My daughters friend was killed in a car crash, the funeral took place Friday....

A poem to David's Mum

I can only imagine how it feels
At times it must seem so unreal
But through the tears and all the pain
Your sad loss is God's gain

Right now your heart feels so broken
With so many words unspoken
Questions still not answered and reasons not explained, but always remember
Your sad loss is God's gain

If only I could turn back the pages of time
Change the script,the story line
But your sad loss is God's gain

Do not grieve for to long
To a better place your son David has gone
Take comfort in these words....
A place in Heaven is well deserved.

In memory of David Foulkes 14.08.2009

"O love that wilt not let me go, I rest my weary soul in thee; I give thee back the life I owe, that in thine ocean depth its flow may richer, fuller be".

Typhoon, Earthquake and Me

The wind welcomes me
Gusting like a ghost
Violently along the runway
I settle in my safe haven
I thought I reach the end
Grateful of a long day journey
The floor is shaken
The wave – not always
Belong to the sea
Underground
Making its way
And things above it
Swaying, shaking oddly
I beg to the edifice
Don’t fall on your knees
I speak to the window
Don’t shatter in pieces
Cause these two great forces
Would never care
That between them
I’m a helpless stranger

Johnboy, I always had problems with understanding the old english language.
I expected it was about D-day (June 6) but did not know there was a D-day also in 1882

There may be something in that coincidence jellyfish
Sad story behind it all... George Matheson studied at Glasgow University and was told he was going blind, by the time he finished his studies was infact blind
His fiancee sent back their engagement ring with a note saying "I cannot go through life bound by the chains of marriage to a blind man".
George became a powerful and poetic Pastor.
At his Sister's wedding he was deeply moved with memories of the love he had lost, he never married. He wrote the poem to God as reminder of the love God had for him and how despite all, to give his life and soul back to him (God).
This story and much more can be read in the pages of the Word for Today published by United Christian Broadcasters. It's free to anyone and they rely on donations......regards JB
