For Your Eyes Only

To Josephine and her 35 ft statue of Virgin Mary
at her uphill estate

On the mountains and valleys
Here, nature wonder lies with grace
Overlooking the vast pacific ocean
It's magnificent God's creation
Where serenity and divinity reign.

It's one of wonders of the glove
A Shangrila in a modern world
Love, peace and happiness you surely will find
Among the flowers and foliage so devine.

Ah heaven, so near yet so far away
But I hear the angels sing solemnly
And the blue sky beaming gracefully.

And there Mother Mary standing tall and stately
With eyes staring at me.
My soul touched and eyes misty.
How magnificent she is, isn't she?

A friend gave me this one it might appeal to JWL
"Something of value"
We met and we married a long time ago
We worked for long hours when wages were low
no TV no radio no bath times were hard
Just a cold water tap and awalk round the yard

No holidays abroad no carpets on the floors
We had coal on the fire and we didnt lock doors
Our children arrived,no pill in them days
We brought them up without state aid

They were safe going to play in the park
And old folk could could go out in the dark
No valium no drugs no LSD
We cured most of our ills with a good cup of tea

No vandals no muggings there was nothing to rob
We felt we were rich with a couple of bob (pence)
People were happier in those days
Kinder and caring in so many ways

Milkmen and paperboys would whistle and sing
A night at the cinema was one mad fling
We all get our share of trouble and strife
We just have to face it thats the pattern of life

Now I'm alone I look back through the years
I dont think of the bad times the trouble and tears
I remember the Blessings our home and our love
And that we shared them together I thank God above
