Resource Page

I have set up our resource page on the front page of the site now, this page is strictly for sites that are nice and useful for our members / visitors here on Dumaguete Info. This page is not for link trading with all kinds of weird sites.

If you have any suggestions for sites that should be on the list, please post a reply in this thread and I will review it. It will be far from all sites suggested that actualy end up on the resource page, so please do not be upset if your suggestion does not make it.

My goal with the resource page is basically to have as few sites on there as possible with as much content and useful information as possible. That way it will be easier for our users to go though the list and find the gold nuggets.

By the way, I wanted to thank you for including my blog on that list. I'm glad you found it worthy of being showcased. Even though it has been a while since I've been in Dumaguete, the town has left a lasting impression upon me and continues to be a significant part of my life since my sweetheart is there.

I read through your blog and really enjoyed the read. This was also one of the pages I read before my move to Dumaguete. I especially liked the first impressions and the articles just around the time you arrived good fun, especially for us who have been through - or for the ones just about to go through something similar

Hello Dane,

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Most of the earliest postings were simply taken from my writings from shortly after returning from Dumaguete. Of course, every once in a while I'll recall some thought or experience I had that I have yet to record. Despite the 2-year lapse the memories are still vivid enough for me to sort of transport myself back to that wonderful time and record my reflections.

I'm not sure when I'll have opportunity to get back there to Dumaguete. I'm 32 and recently started a new job, so my ability to travel is very limited. Also, I am nowhere near being independently wealthy, so the cost is a factor as well. In the meantime, it is very therapeutic for me to comment on the immigration process in which we are currently immersed. I speak to Marilyn every day and miss her terribly, so I view the blog as a good way to rekindle all that was positive from my trip, and look forward to a future with a wonderful woman from Dumaguete.

It is very interesting to hear other people stories on this topic, it is a hard and rugged road to success.

Hopefully you will get Marilyns visa approved and get her to US soon, the long distance relationsship issues are not easy to deal with for sure, especially when you do not have the light in the end of the tunnel in form of a date where you return here or she will go to USA.

You should write a step by step article of all your steps in the process, that will help people thinking about taking that step in the right direction.

I have 3 friends from Denmark who got their fiances to Denmark and got married there. One couple moved back to Philippines after a few years and they are now living in Boracay working as dive instructors.

Actually, you can find all the steps needed to process any kind of visa to the US through their website: USCIS Home Page. I have been through this and based on my experience, some of the people who try to help are not really helping you. Some of the "procedures" are no longer done and have been updated. So it's much better to get the details from the source itself and then just follow through.

I couldn't find a website for St. Paul College of Dumaguete which I think should be included in the resource page. I also think that Foundation University should be included there as well. Their website is: Foundation University.

One more thing I found out while surfing the net was this website: Welcome to Oriental Negros Philippines!. I think that it would be cool to put in the resource page since it promotes most of the island

I agree. It would be great if Kuya did this or just shared some experiences with the process, like lessons learned. There are bound to be delays and pitfalls along the way. I am a little curious how long it takes from start to finish. I assume you are doing a marriage or fiancee visa...can't remember if you already said.

I have a girlfriend I may do this with as well.....unless of course I can move to PI. Then the question is....where in PI.

PS- I am a little older than you so I can't call you "Kuya".
