Default Welcome to the Marine Life and Fish Identification Forum

I think it is great snorkeling or diving with an underwater camera, it is a good way to remember good dives and also later to identify fish and other marine life you have encountered on your travels in the underwater world.

Please include as much information as possible when submitting a picture for identification. like an approximate date of the picture and a location, also information about size colors and how it moved.

The more information you post about the picture the easier the identification will be.

Thanks much Dane, I will try to get a few that I have been wondering about. Do you have a size limit that you would like to see on the forums?

I think 800*600 would be cool.

And post each picture in a thread for itself with the descriptions to keep it simple

I am excited about this new end of the site, I have just recently taken my open water certification and I would love to know more about what I am seeing in stead of just swimming around looking at random stuff

Also the issues about venemous and poisonous fish is kind of very important

Default Would LOVE to know what type of fish this is...

Hi!

These pictures were taken while snorkeling in Coco Cay in the Bahamas. The fish was quite large (judging by the parrot fish next to it) and had the wierdest way of propelling itself. One fin went in one direction on the top and the other one in the other direction. I also have a little video of the motion if needed.
Thanks much!
