Default What kind of fish is this??

I live in Mobile, Alabama and I was fishing yesterday morning off the causeway. I caught a bass first but my second catch I cant seem to identify. I dont fish very much so maybe this is obvious, but I have no clue what it is. Thanks

It looks more like a Whiting or Hake. Did it have a small snorkle on its lower lip. They are good eating, a delicate, flaky flesh.

redfish are a great gamefish and even have a professional fishing league. the get up to around 80 lbs i think. the make a clicking sound as they are equipped to break open shellfish. jim

Doesn't look like a carp to me...thank god. Useless fish. Not sure about now but was swimming in Lake Havasu (spelling? between California and Arizona if I remember correctly) and it was full of carp. You could actually grab them while swimming - there were so many..and so dumb. This one looks a lot better and likely edible....
