Default Zanzibar - Restaurant & Lounge

Just came across a cool little place yesterday evening.
Zanzibar Restaurant and Lounge is located across Sans Rival and runs a nice concept IMHO.

It is a relaxing atmosphere, not too light and good not too loud sound. The place on 2 levels had its soft-opening just 2 days ago and some final adjustments will be done this week.

The place is equipped with a few dining-tables and some nice chill-out corners. The kitchen offers until fully operational next week a small menu with 3 or four dishes and some typical bar-snacks.

Andrew, the owner has Sri Lankan roots and that was taste-able in the beef-curry I had. There were definitely some spices in it which are not available in Dumaguete. I look forward for the full menu. If there is more food like that Zanzibar will be in the top spots of my "regular" list.

Zanzibar might not be a typical Dumaguete-Expat hang-out, but I can see guys like "The Dude" with "Weena" hanging out there frequently.

It is definitely a different and very nice concept and from my side All the Best and Good Success

Cheers

Rhoody

I had (of course) SMB 45Peso, my curry was 190 or so, the drink for my missus 60Peso (I assume it is the opening price, too good for 60 Peso).

Bar snacks like fried onionrings, Chicharon and other finger-food around 50 Peso.

Wanna add some Info, soon there will be an LCD TV for cool videos or Live Events.

I actually can see the place booming as the lights are nice configured that it is really a place for dining during daytime and party/chilling at night. I will make a few more pix and collect info after the Grand Opening.

cheers

Rhoody

Then we will try it out, I think we all need to find and let everyone know of these new eateries. Thank You for this new information. As ever, when YOU write it certainly pricks the ears up!

We went to Zanzibar tonight and had dinner with drinks with my girlfriend for less than 500php for two the Beef-Curry spicy was great. Met Rhoody and his girlfriend they introduced us to the owner then the Chef came out to greet us ask how we liked our food which was great then thanked us for coming. Nice causual restaurant with music and soon TV. We will be going back. This make 2 places Rhoody you recommended to me that has good service and food. It was nice meeting both of you and the children. Thanks again

It is another addition to the small city's growing entertainment industry where one gets to drink and meet people. Nice place, I can see.
