Hi! I tried to contact th resort (formerly Hans and Nenita's), but they have not answered my emails yet. Does anyone know whether the resort is still open? Who do they organize the diving with? How aout their guides and gear? Is it possible to stay there and use a dive centre in Dumaguete for places like Ducom Pier and Sumilon? Or is it too far by jeepney? By the way, which shop would you recommend? Adventure dive shop has not answered my email yet. All recommendations will be appreciated, as I have to organize things in advance. Thank you. Yours, Liberty

Have you tried El Dorado Resort in Dauin? I stayed there about a month ago & had a decent experience---nice rooms with good breakfast included for $29usd per night. I also dive with the dive shop inside the resort called Dive Society---excellent staffs & good equipments---ask for Philip there.

Well, 29 US$ is a bit too much (actually it is even more in Peso!). I want clean accommodation with fan, good bed and bathroom for about max. 900PHP (like Malatapay Beach resort, Kookoo's Nest). The problem is finding a dive shop that goes to Sumilon, Ducom Pier etc. Thank you. Yours, Liberty

The property we are building our new house on, sits next to the Malatapy Beach Resort, on the Zambo. side. We are putting in a new paved private road for our use, as Hans road was just too rough, narrow, and really didn't lead to our property. Some of you may have seen the new road going in, brush being cut, and bedrock dumped in. We will be in Dumaguete on June 7, and staying for two weeks. 2 blackbelts

I think Sta.monica beach resort in Dumaguete can solve your problem. They have cottages there for you to stay. I believe they have ferryboats for rent to go to sumilon island. Ducom pier? is a privately owned pier for commercial purpose not a dive center. Cost? I don't know really. Just want to help.

| Hello Liberty, I read your qoute and I wish I ill know from where are you. Anyway I hope I can help a little on your sentiment. I am living in Dumaguete City. Malatapay Beach is the best place for me. They have a solemn place where you can have total relaxation away from the crowded cities. There place is buit witht he native materials which I love most. Now there's no internet in this place that's why you can book them in person. I think they have telephone. I wish I can ask there number one time. I'm planning to spend time there one of these days. What I can make sure of is that this is a paradise place. Willing to help, Honeybee I tried to contact th resort (formerly Hans and Nenita's), but they have not answered my emails yet. | Yes, Malatapay beach resort is still open. Their phone number is on their website. About a month ago their native cottages were 850PHP per night. They organise diving through EasyDivers, which are based at Thalatta Resort (much more pricey) - the other side of the market. |
