For my money, the best hotel in Dumaguete is the Bethel.
However, if you can live without the sea/Boulevard view, the Palwa is an excellent choice.
We stayed several days there, paying around 950 Pesos for a double with AC, cable etc. Free breakfast, and there was a choice (unlike some places where the free breakfast is the smallest available).

Amen for Bethel. And if you will have a chance to chat a little bit with the owner, that would be the icing. He is such a nice down to earth person. Witty too.

Wow, that is really cheap for a room. I think I found my place to stay.

I will have to stay somewhere while I look for an apartment. How is their internet connection? Do they have wifi available to the rooms?

How about Dumaguete Springs? They look to be about the same price for long term (month) stay as the Bethel house but DS seems to be actual apartments. Anyone have info on DS?

Another vote for Palwa. No wi-fi on 3rd floor though. Stops at the 2nd. Restaurant is surprisingly quite good and excellent value. Great staff at the hotel, comfortable rooms, and well worth the money.

hi.. i need help.. were going to dumaguete this month.. can anybody help me with the sked of the ferry from santander to dumaguete? and also, anybody heard of hotel camila? is it good?

As far as i know there is no ferry between Santander and Dumaguete.
There is a pumpboat between Santander and Sibulan and there are some small pedestrian ferry's between Bato & Tampi and also a Ro-Ro-Ferry between Bato and Tampi
So it depends if you have a car or not
Anyway from Bato to Negros Oriental there are Ferry's every 1,5 to 2 hours day & night.
