A lot of people has been waiting for this day for a long time, an equal amount of people has been fearing this day. Either way, McDonalds has begun their construction on the othe side of the street from Unitop in the city center.

It seems like a lot of people in Dumaguete City and on the message board here on DumagueteInfo.com are in two different camps about the new restaurant. A lot of people hate the American junk food and the other camp are happy that Dumaguete is finally getting a McDonalds restaurant.

I for one am happy about this, the more variety and the more we can offer visitors and tourists the better for the city. Also expats thinknig about moving to Dumaguete will probably be happy to hear that there will be more foreign fast food here.

Jollibee and Scooby’s are mostly made with the Filipino palate in mind and most of my expat friends would have only tried either of these places once never to return. SO for them the news about McDonalds opening in Dumaguete are very good.

I have not got any information about how long time they expect the construction to last and when they are opening the restaurant. We will be at the grand opening covering that event for sure.
