George P. Arnaiz, member of the House of Representatives for the second district of Negros Oriental has inducted the first officers of the newly founded Negros Dive Professionals. A small ceremony was held on Friday 27th of January 2012 at the Sidlakan Village in Dumaguete City.
George P. Arnaiz, who is a scuba diver himself, welcomed the new association officers and representatives from different Dive Resorts in Dumaguete and Dauin.
The new organization is not limited to the big operators, but open to all dive-professionals of Negros Oriental.
The founding member of Negros Dive Professionals are:
Adventure Dive Shop (Mikes’s Beach Resort)
Chris (Korean operator)
Gino Tec-Trimix Center
Lucky Dive Shop
ND Underwater Sports
As officers of Negros Dive Professionals were inducted:
President: Jonathan Alerre
Vice President: Patrick Bruder
Secretary: Richard Emslie
Treasurer: Glenn Carballo
Goals and plans of the group are regional search and rescue training to complement the government organizations of Negros Oriental, as well as raising the funds to repair the recompression chamber which sits unused somewhere hidden since years in Provincial Hospital. The raised funds should be also used for training of medical personal to operate the chamber.
Jonathan Alerre, President of Negros Dive Professionals, stated that 90% of the tourists visiting Negros Oriental are Dive Enthusiasts. While this number seem way to high, it is true that a significant number of visitors from outside the Philippines are into Scuba diving. If the Negros Dive Professional doesn’t die a natural death (like all tries before to unite the dive props in this area), it could make Scuba Diving in Negros Oriental and Dumaguete not only safer, but even more enjoyable.
